Our Guest House Features
At Alcyone Guest House, we pride ourselves on providing comfortable accommodations with all the amenities you need for a pleasant stay.
Outdoor Patio
All our guest rooms open onto a shared patio area where you can relax and enjoy the South African sunshine. The patio features comfortable seating and tables. The patio also leads towards our well equipped outdoor kitchen and braai.
Outdoor Kitchen and Braai
No South African home should be without a dedicated braai area, and Alcyone is no exception. Our braai area also doubles as an outdoor kitchen, with washing up facilities and generous working space for preparing salads and braai broodjies. The braai is undercover and partially enclosed, so the weather will not intervene.
Secure Parking
We offer secure parking for guests behind an automated lock-up gate. Our paved parking area ensures your vehicle stays clean and secure during your stay.
Note: There is one dedicated parking space per room. If you require additional parking space (or if you will be travelling with a trailer), please let us know so we can make arrangements beforehand.
Off Grid Backup
Like many South Africans, we have begun the journey towards fully off-grid living. Alcyone currently uses solar backup power sufficient for keeping the lights on for many hours, Additionally, the property has a borehole for water supply. These facilities ensure that we are mostly unaffected during the inevitable service disruptions in the area

We are located close to a number of amenities, such as the beach, the Nelson Mandela University, Humewood Golf Club and restaurants. A 5-minute walk from the Indian Ocean, 10-minute drive from the airport, 5 minute drive from Broadwalk Mall. Everything is close by.
En-suite Bathrooms with Shower
All our units are fully self-contained with en-suite bathrooms, each with a shower. Each unit has its own entrance.
Fully Equipped Kitchenette
We take pride in offering our guests a fully equipped kitchenette. Even though the space is limited, it offers everything you will need to make holiday meals, including a 2 burner gas hob, microwave, kettle (both electric and gas), toaster, French press coffee maker, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, proper knives, cutting boards, and even storage containers if you have left overs.
Reliable High-Speed Internet
The guest house has a high-speed fibre connection with Gigabit wifi mesh system to ensure all rooms have continuous internet.
Television and Entertainment
All rooms are equipped with a wall mounted Smart TV with Open TV Satellite decoder. In addition to the channels available on Open TV, we also have a netflix subscription, allowing you to watch netflix directly from the set-top box. Please note: We do not have DSTV installed on the set-top box, so if you are dependent on DSTV (for supersport, as an example), please remember to have the DSTV stream app installed on your mobile phone, then you can simply cast from the the App to our smart TV.
